Miley Cyrus is working with Mandy director Panos Cosmatos on new concept album, Something Beautiful
In a recent interview with Harpers Bazaar, Miley Cyrus detailed her forthcoming concept album, Something Beautiful.
Speaking about Something Beautiful, which is set to follow last year's Endless Summer Vacation, Miley Cyrus says that the album is inspired partly by both Pink Floyd’s 1979 album, The Wall, and the movie which was released in 1982 by Alan Parker. "My idea was making The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture," she revealed.
Another unexpected influence is the trippy Panos Cosmatos-directed film, Mandy, which features Nicolas Cage. Cyrus originally wanted to reimagine the film as a musical. "I wanted to play Nicolas Cage," she added. "I love that it’s a romance revenge story. Romance and revenge — those are some of the greatest tragedies. I forever and always will be interested in those."

“She’s been spending long hours in the studio working on a new visual album for 2025. More experimental than anything she’s ever done, but in a pop. Main themes are romance revenge story. Cyrus describes the vibe… pic.twitter.com/OmYOr6PCIp
Revealing that she would like to be a "human psychedelic for people", she continues: "It’s a concept album that’s an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music." Cyrus reached out to Cosmatos, who is now said to be involved in the visual identity of the concept album.
"The visual component of this is driving the sound. It was important for me that every song has these healing sound properties," Cyrus explained. "The songs, whether they’re about destruction or heartbreak or death, they’re presented in a way that is beautiful, because the nastiest times of our life do have a point of beauty. They are the shadow, they are the charcoal, they are the shading. You can’t have a painting without highlights and contrast."
