Marika Hackman goes back to her roots on "The Yellow Mile"
Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Marika Hackman has released her new single, "The Yellow Mile" as the latest taster of her forthcoming album, Big Sigh.
"The Yellow Mile" arrives alongside a video she co-directed with Nàtalia Pàges that shows Marika being buried alive under the paraphernalia of previous relationships. It's the fourth track to be lifted from the forthcoming album Big Sigh – her first in four years – and follows recently released singles, "Hanging", "Slime", and "No Caffeine".
The brand new single is a moment of reflection on her new album, a song which Hackman wanted to feel like the opposite of a grand finale, to feel small again; it was also the last song she wrote for the record. “I wanted to go back to my roots as a songwriter, me and a guitar, crafted, very immediate," she explains.
Big Sigh is set for release on 12 January via Chrysalis Records, and is available to pre-order now.
