Madonna shares an update following her recent hospitalisation
Last month it had been revealed that Madonna was hospitalised following a serious bacterial infection.
Her longtime manager, Guy Oseary, announced the news on 28 June via his Instagram, stating: "On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU. At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected."
Yesterday evening (10 July) she posted an update, thanking fans for their "positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement", before adding: "I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life".
Continuing her statement, Madonna gave an update on the status of her forthcoming 40th anniversary tour for her album, Celebration, noting that she would not be able to begin the tour later this week as planned, and that she will be rescheduling the North American dates.
"My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can! The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe."
The tour was scheduled to begin this weekend, in Vancouver, BC, before heading to the likes of New York, Chicago, Miami, Washington, Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas. She is yet to reveal the rescheduled dates.
