Madonna postpones Celebration tour due to serious bacterial infection
Madonna has had to postponed he start of her Celebration Tour, her longtime manager, Guy Oseary, announced last night (28 June) via Instagram.
“On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU. At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour," the statement read. "Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected."
Noting that they are currently unsure as to when they will be able to resume the tour plans, Oseary's statement continued: "At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.
We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."
Madonna was scheduled to host a 40th anniversary Celebration tour next month, which would have kicked off in Vancouver, BC, continuing through North America until early October when the dates hit London – including a show at The 02 – and various cities in Europe.
Madonna recently joined forced with Sam Smith on the track "Vulgar".
