Madlib finishing collaborative album with Mac Miller, confirms he's working on a record with Erykah Badu
Madlib reveals he's finishing up his collaborative album with the late Mac Miller, and says he's also started working with Erykah Badu on a new record.
Back in February 2019, Thelonious Martin revealed in an interview that Madlib and Mac Miller had recorded an album's worth of material, aptly named Maclib. While appearing on Sway In The Morning yesterday (28 March), Madlib provided an update on the collaborative project, saying he's "finishing up" the project.
Madlib told Sway, "Right now, I’m finishing up the Mac Miller album, Planet Asia album, Erykah Badu album, different stuff."
When asked if the Mac Miller album is the Maclib project mentioned inn 2019, Madlib responded, "Yes sir." He also confirmed that Miller’s estate has given the project the green light. Watch the video below from the 5:15 mark to see Madlib speaking about the project.
Around the 15:17 mark, Madlib expanded on his work with Erykah Badu, saying, "[Erykah and I] just started on an album … We have a lot of unreleased stuff though."
Miller's last new full-length was 2020's posthumous album Circles.
Earlier this month Madlib joined Meyhem Lauren and DJ Muggs on "Wild Salmon".
