Lucky Daye reveals he saved somebody's life after a studio session with RAYE
In a recent interview with Variety, Lucky Daye discussed his latest album, Algorithm, and how he saved a woman's life after being in the studio with BRIT-Award winning artist RAYE.
The album, released last week, featured a co-write with Bruno Mars ("That's You"), as well as collaborations with Teddy Swims, and RAYE.
Speaking of the collaboration with RAYE, Lucky Daye recalls recording the first verse at home and then putting an idea down before bringing it back to her. "We started out doing it in the studio, and I could tell she wanted to go deeper. We played her two songs, she chose that... She took it home, she went deeper than we went in the studio." Praising their meeting as "amazing", Lucky Daye then revealed that they "saved somebody’s life."
After the studio, Lucky Daye planned on taking RAYE home. When she asked what he was planning on doing next, he said: "I’m going to take my ass to the beach. It’s like 2:30 am, I’m going to the beach. I’m not sleeping," and RAYE decided to join him.
"So we went to the beach and we were talking about the session, talking about songs, talking about the future, talking about careers. We got to know each other as creative people and I look over to the right, and it’s this guy and this girl on a pier on the tower or whatever. Initially, I thought it was a dog and I was like, yo why you dragging a dog like that?," Lucky Daye explains of the incident.
He pondered whether or not to intervene, as he didn't want to get dragged into any altercations, so decided just to observe the situation from his car. "Then another car came up and four people grab her and they started bringing her to the car, she was all tore up or whatever. I called the cops on them. I didn’t have no time for the cops. I was like, yo, what’s up man? I’m just letting y’all know there’s somebody here that really needs your help. This is not a game. Gave them my name, all this information, and was like I just want to make y’all know so it’s not on my conscience." Eventually the police came, and arrested everybody involved. Whilst Lucky Daye doesn't know the specifics of the situation, he's sure they saved the woman from serious harm.
