Lorde on her fourth album: "I don’t want to wait"
Lorde has given an update on her Solar Power follow-up, revealing that she doesn't "want to wait" and intends "to move as quickly as I fucking can."
After teasing her new era at Primavera Sound LA in 2022, and saying her new music "sounds really really different" in October last year, Lorde has discussed the progress she's been making on her new album while speaking to Ensemble Magazine. Lorde said, "It has taken me quite a while [to start working on it]. I mean, I do just take a long time… I do a lot of research, I write a lot down."
"Sort of a big chunk of work before I actually start writing music," Lorde added. "So yeah, that’s been a really big part of it. It’s been super exciting and I feel excited about what’s coming."
On whether it'll be another four-year wait for her next album, Lorde said, "You know, it’s my intention, it’s always my intention, to move as quickly as I fucking can and then that ends up taking different forms. But this one, I really am trying to. I don’t want to wait, you know, so take from that what you will."
She also said that "anything could happen" when asked if her fourth album could arrive in 2023.
This Friday, 17 February, Lorde's younger sister Indy will release her debut EP Threads.
