L’objectif return with their brand new single, "ITSA"
Ascendant Leeds quartet L’objectif have shared their brand new single and video, "ITSA", which was premiered by Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 6 Music.
The single is the first new music from the teenage band since their acclaimed second EP We Aren’t Getting Out But Tonight We Might was released in the height of their A-Levels last summer.
"ITSA" is co-produced by frontman Saul Kane and Ali Chant (Yard Act, Dry Cleaning, Katy J Pearson etc), and comes complete with a music video directed by Ethan Porter.
Kane says: “We wanted this song to feel like a very direct statement as musically it isn’t too complex, it’s all about its delivery and character. Lyrically, it’s about our moral conscience but also I think I realised you can just say “yeah come on come on” for an entire chorus if it works, rather than over complicating everything. We shot the video around Leeds as well as in our local pub, which felt fitting as most of the lyrics were written on drunken walks home from there…”
Having now finished college, the Iggy Pop-endorsed group have enjoyed a busy summer on the festival circuit, playing the likes of All Points East alongside The Strokes and at Reading & Leeds for the very first time on the BBC Introducing stage. Last year they supported Chess Club labelmate Alfie Templeman on his UK tour, completed a run of supporting dates with Everything Everything and supported New York outfit Geese on their UK leg. L’objectif will play a special sold-out homecoming show at Leeds’ Oporto this Friday (22 September).
"ITSA" is out now via Chess Club Records.
