Lizzo’s Big Grrrl dancers share their support in an open letter
The open letter comes in solidarity after Lizzo had been accused of sexual harassment from three of her previous dancers.
The “Big Grrl” and “Big Boiii” dancers posted an open letter in support of Lizzo, via their social media pages.
“We had the time of our lives on The Special Tour. We have been so honored to share the stage with such amazing talent,” the letter began. “The commitment to character and culture taking precedence over every movement and moment has been one of the Greatest lessons and Blessings that we could possibly could ask for.”
It went on to praise Lizzo for “shattering limitations and kicking in the door way for the Big Grrrl & Big Boiii Dancers to do what we love! You have given us a platform where we have been able to parallel our Passion with a purpose! Not only for Us, but for Woman and All people breaking barriers.”
Ex-dancers Crystal Williams, Arianna Davis and Noelle Rodriguez have accused Lizzo of creating a hostile work environment and engaging in sexual harassment, which prompted Lizzo to release a statement saying that she usually chooses "not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed."
"There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world. I know what it feels like to be body shamed on a daily basis and would absolutely never criticise or terminate an employee because of their weight," she continued.
Artists including Grimes have been vocal about their support for Lizzo; the most recent being Beyoncé, who exclaimed “I love you, Lizzo!” during her performance of “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)” in Foxborough, Mass, following a period of time where she omitted Lizzo's name from the performance, leading Tina Knowles to address the situation: “She also didn’t say her own sisters name yal should really stop".
Lizzo has not shared any other statements regarding this lawsuit.
