Lizzo replacing Yeah Yeah Yeahs as SNL musical guest this weekend
This week's Saturday Night Live episode will see Lizzo replace Yeah Yeah Yeahs as the musical guest due to Nick Zinner having pneumonia.
Last month it was revealed that Yeah Yeah Yeahs would be the Saturday Night Live's final musical guest of 2022 on 17 December, but yesterday (11 December) on socials, the band announced that their appearance will no longer be going ahead due to focusing on Nick Zinner's recovery from pneumonia.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs wrote that Zinner's recovery has been "an up and down recovery process," and the band's "top priority is supporting Nick through a full recovery."
As well as cancelling their SNL performance, the band also pulled out of KROQ's Acoustic Christmas. They wrote, "We are deeply thankful and expectedly heartbroken we cannot rise to these occasions. It's been a tough week, and it's been a tough year on the health front for us alongside so many artists who are committed to connecting with audiences amidst a pandemic."
