Live Nation plans to invalidate around 50,000 Oasis ticket sales

Live Nation has announced plans to cancel 4% of tickets sold for the Oasis reunion tour as they have broken the terms and conditions of reselling.

The hottest ticket of next year: the Oasis reunion tour. Not only were many fans left disappointed at not being able to buy a ticket; those who were able to purchase one, were met with 'dynamic pricing'. Tickets were officially listed as up to £135, but after many fans had waited for hours in online queues, they were then offered the opportunity to buy a ticket for the 'in-demand' price of £337.50. The tickets eventually sold out, and unsurprisingly were listed on ticket reselling websites, with one even being listed for almost £6,000. Thanks to much disappointment shared online, the UK government has said that they will be looking into this.

Tickets managed to be sold on reselling websites, despite Ticketmaster and Oasis making it clear that they would only allow this to happen through its resale partner, Twickets. A spokesperson for Live Nation has revealed to BBC that they will invalidate 4% of all ticket sales due to a violation of terms and conditions, in which they were bought from a non-approved reseller.

"These terms and conditions were successfully put in place to take action against secondary ticketing companies reselling tickets for huge profit. Only four percent of tickets have ended up on resale sites. Some major tours can see up to 20 percent of tickets appearing via the major unauthorised secondary platforms," they said. "All parties involved with the tour continue to urge fans not to purchase tickets from unauthorised websites as some of these may be fraudulent and others subject to cancellation."

Cast have recently been announced as support for the Oasis tour alongside the band's longtime friend Richard Ashcroft.
