Here's who's performing at this year’s #MITSAward in honour of Jamal Edwards MBE!
Drum roll please...
Mahalia says of Edwards, "The first time I met Jamal, I was 12 in a field at Bestival. At first, he kind of looked at me like I was crazy and then he smiled and said "go on, then." A year later, he put me on SBTV for my first official online performance. He was one of the first people to truly believe in me and give me a platform and I will always feel somehow indebted to him for that. His impact on popular music and where the industry is today really can’t be overstated. Love you forever, Jam."
The MITS Award will be presented to Edwards' family in November during a gala ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel. The event will be held in aid of the BRIT Trust, Nordoff Robbins and The Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust.
His mum Brenda Edwards said of the award in a statement, "It is very humbling for the family to be accepting this award on behalf of our beloved Jamal and we are delighted to have the MITS highlight the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust alongside The BRIT Trust and Nordoff Robbins. We know that Jamal will be looking down on us on 7th November - busting with pride that his absolute love of the music industry and giving back to the less fortunate in society has been recognised in this way. Thank you MITS!"
The MITS Award ceremony takes place on 7 November at London's Grosvenor House Hotel. Visit mitsaward.co.uk for more information.
