Lime Garden have announced their highly anticipated debut album, One More Thing
Brighton four-piece Lime Garden have announced their debut album, One More Thing, alongside its lead single "Love Song".
Speaking about "Love Song", Lime Garden’s vocalist and rhythm guitarist Chloe Howard said: “Annabel wrote the tune in her bedroom, when she was in a musical slump and had been listening to a lot of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and LCD Soundsystem. We had been trying to write an “upbeat” song for months and finally this appeared. Lyrically the song explores jumping into joy and love even when you feel you are not worthy of it. Embracing your cringe and not caring what others think.”
Produced by Ali Chant (Perfume Genius, PJ Harvey, Yard Act), One More Thing is the culmination of a stellar run of singles and non-stop touring from Lime Garden since their emergence in 2021, alongside sold-out shows up and down the country both headlining and in support of the likes of IDLES, The Big Moon, and Yard Act.
“I think because we're so close it creates a very open environment to make music where we can say whatever we want, and we won't be judged,” drummer Annabel Whittle says. Howard agrees. “Our womanhood translates into everything we do.” This shared understanding aids them when navigating life as an all-female band in a cis-white-male dominated industry.
“When we first started out, we'd be the only girls in any venue – and most of the time we still are,” says Howard. The band now hope their debut can be what they couldn’t see. “You don't have to be this extraordinary person to make something that really connects with people,” says Howard. Whittle nods: “We want young girls to watch us and hopefully think, ‘Maybe I can be in a band’, because we never ever had that.”
The band have also announced their biggest tour to date today, commencing on 27 February at YES (Pink Room) in Manchester and culminating with a hometown show at Chalk in Brighton on 8 March, with a stop at London's Lafayette along the way on 7 March.
