Lil Nas X confirms UK release date for Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero
Universal Pictures Content Group have announced LIL NAS X: LONG LIVE MONTERO will be available on digital platforms to rent and own from next month onwards.
Last September, Lil Nas X was set to launch the film at Toronto Film Festival, but the event was delayed to to reports of a bomb threat.
“Earlier this evening, we were made aware by the Toronto Police Service of an investigation in the vicinity of the red carpet for the Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero screening," a spokesperson said. “A passerby uttered a threat towards private security. Out of an abundance of caution, the Toronto Police and the private security swept the scene and cleared within 20 minutes. The threat was general and did not target any one person.”
Directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Carlos López Estrada and Academy Award-nominated director and cinematographer Zac Manuel, the film follows the Grammy-winning artist Lil Nas X, over 60 days as he embarks on his first ever tour across North America on his debut album tour Long Live Montero.
The all-access documentary is an intimate portrait of an artist navigating identity, family, expectations and acceptance, all while reflecting on his place within the legacy of Black, queer performers. We see Lil Nas X connect with us in his most personable way yet and uncover his personal experiences, from being raised as a black queer performer in the deep south, through to his rise to fame, and his place in the pop world as a 23-year-old artist.
LIL NAS X: LONG LIVE MONTERO will be available on digital platforms to rent and own from 20 May 2024.
