Lil Nas X apologises to trans community after joking about transitioning
Lil Nas X has issued an apology addressed to the trans community after receiving criticism for making a joke about having transition surgery.
On socials this week, Lil Nas X tweeted a now-deleted an image of a woman, claiming that his "surgery was successful."
When called out for using "transitioning a punchline of a joke", Lil Nas X responded in another now-deleted tweet, "I'm literally just saying she looks like me y’all cannot be fuckin serious."
Following criticism for the joke, Lil Nas X issued an apology to the trans community on Twitter yesterday (14 March), writing, "apologies to the trans community i def handled that situation with anger instead of considering why it was not cool. much love to you guys. sorry."
One user told Lil Nas X that he needs to apologise "in material ways that include money, sharing your platform to raise awareness and just keep it! This is fake as hell!" and he responded, "girl eat my ass."
