LCD Soundsystem pay tribute to Christine McVie at Brooklyn Steel residency show
LCD Soundsystem paid tribute to Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie during their Brooklyn Steel residency show on Wednesday (30 November) by incorporating part of "Songbird" into their own "New York, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down" track.
On Wednesday (30 November) it was revealed that Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie died aged 79, and following multiple tributes from her Fleetwood Mac bandmates and other musicians, LCD Soundsystem paid tribute to McVie during their Brooklyn Steel residency show on Wednesday night.
As Stereogum reports, LCD Soundsystem played Fleetwood Mac's "You Make Loving Fun" and "Love In Store" before they took to the stage, as well as "Everywhere" after the show while the crowd was leaving the venue. During the show they also incorporated part of Fleetwood Mac's "Songbird" into their own "New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down" during the encore, with keyboardist Nancy Whang on lead vocals for the "Songbird" part.
The show also saw LCD Soundsystem debut their cover of The Human League's "Seconds" live, which originally appeared on their 2019 Electric Lady Sessions album.
