Laufey announces her second album Bewitched
Los Angeles-based Icelandic-Chinese artist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Laufey is announcing her second album, Bewitched, alongside new single, "Promise".
"Promise" was written by Laufey and songwriter/producer Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift), and comes hot on the heels of her previous single, "From The Start".
On the track, Laufey explains: '“Promise” is a song about that one person you just can’t quite let go of - the person you promise yourself you’ll stop communicating with but always go back to. It’s a piano ballad written in the form of a story that develops with every verse. Starting with a promise to cut ties with a lover and ending with the inevitable return to the lover."
Bewitched follows Laufey’s 2022 debut full-length, Everything I Know About Love.
Laufey notes: "This is a love album, whether it be a love towards a friend or a lover or life. The first album also touched on a lot of things like moving out of my childhood home and moving into a new city for the first time – being an adult. With this one, I’ve experienced a little bit more of that, and I’m writing about the magic in the love of being young."
Bewitched was co-produced by Laufey and Spencer Stewart, with all songs written by Laufey, apart from jazz standard "Misty". Additionally, the London-based Philharmonia Orchestra played on tracks "Bewitched" and "California and Me".
"Promise" is out now. Laufey's second album, Bewitched, is set for release on 8 September via AWAL Recordings.
