Yeezus tour back on, Kanye West reschedules live dates
Fire up the inevitable-joke-making machines: Kanye West has rescheduled his postponed tour dates. Yeezus rises again.
Transit damage to the 60ft video screens used in the performance meant that Ye’s all-singing, all-dancing live show, complete with a guest appearance from white Jesus, had been put on hold. Shows in Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis were cancelled, as were two dates in the rapper’s hometown of Chicago. The latter will now take place in mid December.
The roadshow has already prompted much discussion regarding its use of the Confederate battle flag on tour merchandise. Speaking on the Los Angeles-based AMP Radio station, Kanye said: ”The Confederate flag represented slavery in a way. That’s my abstract take on what I know about it, right? So I wrote the song, ‘New Slaves.’ So I took the Confederate flag and made it my flag. It’s my flag now. Now what you gonna do?” He added that it was “colorless also. It’s super-’hood and super-white-boy-approved at the same time.”
