Years & Years announce new album Palo Santo and share trailer featuring Dame Judi Dench
Years & Years have announced their long-awaited second record Palo Santo and shared a trailer for their new short film narrated by Dame Judi Dench.
The news follows electrifying comeback cut "Sanctify", which landed last month. The "first official single" (what the hell does that make "Sanctify" then?) is the album's title track - and it's coming in the near future.
Palo Santo sees Olly Alexander & Co. working with Kid Harpoon, Greg Kurstin, Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, Steve Mac, Jessie Shatkin, and Sarah Hudson.
The short film, which expands upon the ideas and themes of Palo Santo, is directed by Fred Rowson and stars Alexander, Dench, and Thai film legend Vithaya Pansringarm. A blurb explains: "Palo Santo has also become a city on a distant planet, on which human beings are a rare commodity, worshipped and idolized by an android society. [Alexander], along with the final humans, is recruited to perform in a series of bizarre erotic cabarets, for an artificial master known only as The Showman."
Years & Years have been working on the follow up to 2015 debut Communion for a fair ol' while, only peeking back out to drop a new single for the Bridget Jones' Baby OST.
