Wu-Tang Clan to release one-of-a-kind album for millions of dollars
While we wait for Wu-Tang Clan’s new album proper, it looks like the hip-hop group have another release coming: a previously-unannounced LP called The Wu – Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.
That record, 31 tracks and 128 minutes in length, will be manufactured only once and sold for million of dollars, in attempt – they say – to restore music’s place in the world of art.
“We’re about to sell an album like nobody else sold it before,” RZA told Forbes. “We’re about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of music. We’re making a single-sale collector’s item. This is like somebody having the scepter of an Egyptian king.”
RZA also expresses the group’s intent to “tour” the album at art galleries, museums and festivals, before selling the item to a wealthy bidder. At these sittings, fans will be able to pay to hear the record in full.
