Wu-Tang Clan announce extremely limited 400-pound photobook
Wu-Tang Clan have announced the release of WU-TANG CLAN: LEGACY, an extremely limited edition photobook that weighs 400 pounds.
The legendary hip-hop group's new book WU-TANG CLAN: LEGACY will span 300 pages, and features never-before-seen images from across Wu-Tang Clan's career.
In classic Wu-Tang Clan fashion, the group aren't just releasing it as a simple book. Instead, the book will be limited to 36 copies, all of which are signed, numbered, and issued with a certificate of authenticity.
According to the press release, the hardback book will be printed and bound in Italy "using the finest leather and materials".
WU-TANG CLAN: LEGACY will be the heaviest book in hip-hop, as each copy will be put inside a bronze-encrusted, black steel chamber, taking the total weight to 400 pounds. The chambers were designed by sculptor Gethin Jones, and pays homage to the group's debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).
The site for the book features a paragraph on the inspiration behind the cases, "Inspired by the ancient past and the bronze ritual bowls of the Zhou Dynasty whose first ruler was King Wu-Wang, the chambers consist of Spun Mild Steel bowls while the raised ridges, base and logo are furnished in solid brushed brass."
Wu-Tang Management CEO John "Mook" Gibbons says, "From conception to the present day, this is the story of the undisputed greatest Hip Hop group of all time being unveiled through rare and never before seen photos."
