Flamingods
The London-Bahrain five-piece released Majesty earlier this year, a joyful psychedelic opus with Eastern and Western influences. Their unique take on the psych movement is not to be missed.
Barbagallo
Known for being Tame Impala's drummer, the Frenchman is branching out with a solo project that dusts off the long tradition of the country's singer/songwriters. He comes on the back of a tightly produced second album Grand chien, which is well worth learning French for.
Halo Maud
Guitarist for Moodoïd, Maud Nadal's new project is a French dream-pop affair, hinting at Melody's Echo Chamber and Arcade Fire. It's full of hooks and trippy soundscapes, and another excuse to put those French lessons to good use.
Norma
This hotly tipped French 24 year old named after Marilyn Monroe delivers grungy pop songs with a big heart, between Fiona Apple and The Kills.
Holy Oysters
Riding on the psych-pop wave heralded by Tame Impala, this French band is unashamedly joyous with synths reminiscent of fellow countrymen Air.
Kroy
Canadian Camille Poliquin cites many influences (Goldfrapp, Youth Lagoon) but stands out on her own with peaceful melodies layered over retro beats and earwormy synth lines.
Chamberlain
With punchy neo-classical that lies somewhere between Ólafur Arnalds and Kraftwerk, the French pianist offers a vast sonic palette whilst keeping a steady beat. Music to dance - smartly - to.
Michael Nau
New Full Time Hobby signing Michael Nau offers his warmth and and love in a laid-back union between country, folk, and classic pop.
Clara Luciani
The 24-year-old La Femme alumni soothes with a production akin to The xx and powerful vocals reminiscent of French underground legend Catherine Ribeiro.
Crayon
Taking his name from his past as an illustrator (Crayon means 'pencil' in French), this young producer from Paris is part of buzzing "French touch" label Roche Musique, within which he delivers soulful electronic music to chill to.
Owen Rabbit
Hailing from Melbourne, this multi-instrumentalist finds things to bang on wherever he can, including rubbish and discarded bottles, but produces a polished sound half-way between Sin Fang and Benjamin Francis Leftwich.
Makeness
Having just released a track with Adult Jazz(see below), the British producer is going from strength to strength.
Lao Ra
The Colombian export might just be the most colourful new pop personality to emerge in 2016. With her latest track "Bang Boom", she firmly holds her ground between the likes of M.I.A. and Charli XCX
Cairobi
London’s Cairobi have a taste for anthems of a psychedelic persuasion, and their finely crafted number “Lupo” has won us right over.
Franck
Not much is known about this quintet but a quick listen conjures visions of Of Montreal with a French accent, and surely that's a good thing.
