Winamp to shut down after 16 years

Long-serving, and vastly-declined, media player Winamp is set to cease after 16 years of service.

The product was launched by Nullsoft back in 1997 and bought by AOL two years later. It became one of the leading and most popular media players of the late 90s and early 2000s.

Now, however, it’s been announced that Winamp will cease operations from 20 December. While old versions of the program will still be available, no new updates or support will be offered.
