Win! Ticket to see Ólafur Arnalds in London tomorrow night (9 September)
Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds and Japanese-German pianist Alice Sara Ott are performing works from their 2015 album The Chopin Project tomorrow night (9 September) at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, and we're giving away two tickets to one lucky winner.
Arnalds and Ott released The Chopin Project earlier this year. It's an ambitious reimagining of some of Chopin's most well-known pieces on different instruments, striving to strip away the perfection of modern classical performances. "From The Beatles onwards," says Arnalds, "non-classical recording technology has been used as part of the composition and performance process – but this has never happened in classical music, which still strives for an impossible ‘invisibility’. But why not use the technology we have not only as a tool, but as part of the actual interpretation? Why can’t the microphones, the room – the sound – also be the performer?"
