Will Joseph Cook announces second album with title-track "Something To Feel Good About"
Will Joseph Cook has announced his second LP Something To Feel Good About, and he's released the title-track as the lead single.
"Something To Feel Good About" is the second song to be shared from Cook's forthcoming album, after May's "Driverless Cars" single.
The new release arrives with a video directed by Will Joseph Cook himself. He says of the new single, "So many relationships had to morph into long distance ones this year, even for those who lived in the same city. Video calling and text was everything, the thing we looked forward to the most and probably the only thing keeping us sane. "Something To Feel Good About" fitted all those emotions so perfectly, so my girlfriend and I were just having fun reflecting our experience into this super phone-themed video."
He adds, "We used the most iconic fonts from Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat for all the text. It felt cool for the whole video to exist in phone land, even in the edit. Even all the footage was just sent back and forth through WhatsApp. Making it cheered us up a lot, so I’m hoping people relate and feel what we felt when they watch it."
Something To Feel Good About will follow on from Cook's 2017 debut LP Sweet Dreamer.
The forthcoming album was written and recorded in LA. He says of the album, "One of the themes of the record is living an optimistic and loving lifestyle in the shadow of either something big and existential that everyone's feeling, or just personal worries you're struggling with."
Cook continues, "I can communicate with music better than I did before. I knew what sounded good, and what I liked to do melodically, but then in terms of something with an emotional connection, that's happened more on this album. Releasing through my own label Bad Hotel has also been really exciting, it's definitely opened a lot of doors to more creativity and self-expression."
