Wiley cuts Cockrock festival set short after 15 minutes, claims to have earned £1000 a minute
It’s pretty clear from past incidents that Wiley doesn’t like playing festivals that aren’t in Hackney or being in the countryside and that putting him in either situation will result in an amusing Twitter rant. It’s unsurprising, then, that it is exactly that which happened when he went to CockRock festival this weekend in Cumbria.
The grime MC cut his performance short at the Cockermouth Rock festival after just 15 minutes on stage. Similar to his Glastonbury incident, when Wiley tried to cancel the performance before even getting to Worthy farm, the rapper posted a series comments about the festival on Twitter.
Earlier in the day, Wiley expressed his displeasure at having to travel by car to Cumbria and wrote, “Please stop sending me to farms to perform please mate. I am a yardie man.”
Although, once settled, the artist reappeared via twitter, looking to be having an reasonably good time, saying ‘Having the nicest cheeseburger right now in cumbria ….proper ring trust me.”
But just 15 minutes into his set, the rapper walked off stage to the boos of festival goers, and in typical Wiley fashion went straight onto the social networking site and bragged how much he got paid for the shortened performance: “I Just earnt £1000 a min. Best job ever despite anything else.” Adding: “I was right as well that festival had nothing to do with why I am on earth I hate my agent for the right reasons.”
And finally, a tweet from this morning: “Today we start the spending of 15 k in style …Fuck them pagans in Cumbria.”
Wiley had performed at Lovebox in London and Access All Eirias in Colwyn Bay, Wales this weekend. The MC claims he earned £60,000 in total for the three shows.
