WHY? launch Kickstarter project for new documentary
No strangers to crowd-sourcing funds, alt-rap troupe WHY? have set up a Kickstarter page for a documentary that details the “fascinating story” behind last year’s Mumps, Etc..
Filmmakers and dedicated fans Scott Fredette and Alex Parks shadowed Yoni Wolf and the band during the making of their fourth album, and now have “many many Tetrabytes” of data in their “hundreds of hours of footage,” all of which they hope to turn into a feature-length documentary about the recording process.
The standard Kickstarter incentives for donating range here from the mildly gratifying ($5 to be certified as a “lovely human being,” gaining access to the production blog) to the gratifyingly intimate ($5000 and Yoni will “stalk” your social media trail and write a song about you; $10,000 and the band will play in your living room).
Readers will remember that in March, WHY? took to Bandpage to fund-raise by offering a set of paid-for ‘experiences’ that included personalised palindromes and the wildly popular ‘Pump with the Chump‘ workout experience, delivered by Yoni Wolf himself.
At the time of writing, the Kickstarter page has been pledged $5,945 of its $45,000 target. Check out the video and donate to the project here.
