Wesley Gonzalez unveils new song "Taste of Something New"
Wesley Gonzalez has released new single "Taste of Something New" as the latest preview of his upcoming third album Wax Limousine.
"Taste of Something New" is the latest taster of Gonzalez's new album, following the title-track "Wax Limousine" and "Greater Expectations" with Rose Elinor Dougall, and is teamed with a Tim Stevens-directed video.
Speaking about the new release, Gonzalez explains, "Dating apps were not really a thing when I had been single seven years earlier, and I had a bit of curiosity about them. I liked the people watching elements of them......that sounds a bit creepy. There was still an aspect of looking to shag someone obviously, though there wasn't many people on there I wanted to shag or thought would want to shag me to be honest, so it kind of felt more like looking through a lens at what normal people were like, gym bunnies and sapiosexuals mainly it seems. Anyways someone asked me out on there and I said yes then immediately panicked and called it off, then I wrote this."
Wax Limousine will follow Gonzalez's 2020 album Appalling Human.
He adds of the record, "This was written right after the breakup and [family member] cancer diagnosis. It was that early stage of a breakup where you can't really understand what went wrong for you or for your ex. There was resentment for the extreme change I had suddenly found myself in, and I was asking what it really was I did wrong. The title Wax Limousine came from old phrases like "as useless as an ashtray on a motorbike". I was trying to express how useless I felt within every situation that had just arrived at my doorstep."
