Weezer reveal vibrant and glitchy new track "California Snow"
Weezer's "California Snow" will feature on the credits for the upcoming drama movie Spell.
Weezer have been busy accepting fan requests for covers this year as they gave their own twist to Toto's "Africa", and even revealed a cover of Blink 182's "All The Small Things" last week.
"California Sun" is their first new track since 2017's Pacific Daydream record.
Weezer teased the track on 18 September via Twitter, stating, "Clearly the only prescription to make anyone better is a new song."
The new track is featured on the soundtrack to a forthcoming movie called Spell. The synopsis reads, "After the death of his fiancée, an American illustrator runs out of medication while wandering the isolated Icelandic countryside - unsure if his compulsions are related to his disorder or if he's being forced to unlock ancient secrets."
Billboard reported Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump will be scoring the forthcoming movie.
"California Snow" was a demo that was refreshed and tweaked after Weezer frontman River Cuomo thought it would fit the vibe of the movie,
Cuomo will be playing a small role of the American illustrator's doctor.
Spell is the directing debut of Crush Pictures' Brendan Walter, who has previously worked on Weezer and Fall Out Boy music videos.
