Known as “Obama’s mouthpiece” to the press, the White House press secretary Jay Carney offered up some free PR work for Guided By Voices at a recent show in Washington DC over the weekend.
A self-proclaimed super-fan of the long-running Ohio outfit, Carney introduced Robert Pollard and co on stage, proceeding to watch the show from side-stage with his son. Fun fact: Carney once mistakenly called Senator Mitch McConnell “Mitch Mitchell”, the name of one of the guitarists of GBV.
