Last week Nadine Shah wandered back into our periphery with a new, crystalline pop-rock track called "Stealing Cars". Now we've got the accompanying music video for the single.
Reflected in broken mirrors, lens flares and kaleidosopic whirlpools, Shah's eyes stare deep into the camera amid myriad shadows and contrasting light/dark palettes. It's intense, rife with symbolic body language; it's simply-presented with subtle subtexts, and allows the music to still hog the attention.
Speaking about the video, Shah said:
"We wanted to keep it really simple to give the song room to breathe. The idea was to show anxiety through the use of repetitive images. We took a lot of inspiration aesthetically from '70s horror films.”
