Watch Stormzy explain what a "peng ting" is to children at his old primary school
In a new video, Stormzy returns to his old primary school to be quizzed by a class of Year Three children. He gets asked about Boris Johnson, and the words "peng ting", "wastemen", and more.
Stormzy's second album Heavy Is The Head landed last Friday (13 December), and to celebrate, Noisy took Stormzy back to his old primary school to be asked questions by a class of Year Three children.
In the introduction, the rapper is asked why he thinks Boris Johnson is a bad man, to which Stormzy replies, "Boris is a very, very bad man. You know like the Big Bad Wolf? He's gonna come down and blow your houses down, that's why we don't like Boris."
Another child goes on ask which celebrity he'd like to "snog", and asks if it would be Ed Sheeran. Stormzy erupts in laughter, and then responds, "I don't think Ed would want to snog me no. Ed's married, so he's not going to want to snog me."
The children go on to ask for explanations of some of Stormzy's phrases, such as "wicked skengman", "wasteman", and "peng ting". Describing how to become a "wicked skengman", Stormzy explains, "You need to go to the mountains, you'll learn about it, you'll get there. I've been to the mountains many a time, and I came back a wicked skengman."
One child asks Stormzy why he doesn't like "waste men" - the kind that empty the bins each week. Stormzy laughs, before replying, "I like those men that come every Wednesday to take your waste." He goes on to explain that wastemen are "people that waste your time."
Another child asks how he knows so many bad words, leading Stormzy to try and deflect any knowledge or use of swear words in his lyrics.
Stormzy also gives some humble advice to the children, after one asks how he became a celebrity. Stormzy says, "I worked hard at what I love. I always think, you shouldn't want to be a celebrity, you should want to do something you love and then that will make you a celebrity."
The rapper is then asked what a "peng ting" is, to which Stormzy replies, "A peng ting is someone who you think looks nice. There's different peng tings for different people. Who I think is a peng ting you might not think is a peng ting, but everyone's a peng ting, we're all peng tings." Watch the full video below.
