Watch Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks pay tribute to Lou Reed with Velvet Underground cover
With a new album on its way, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks previewed some of its tracks at Portland’s Crystal Ballroom recently, also using the occasion to pay tribute to the late Lou Reed.
The former Pavement frontman and co showcased new tracks “Houston Ladies”, “Lariat”, “Cinnamon & Lesbians” and “Independence Street”, before an encore in which they seamlessly ran through Pavement’s “Harness Your Hopes”, Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” and The Velvet Underground’s “Beginning To See The Light”.
