Watch Ryan Adams open up to CBS about Ménière's disease and his recent bursts of creativity
Ryan Adams has opened up to American network CBS about his recent musical output and his battle with Ménière's disease, a chronic illness that affects the inner ear and is "characterized by episodes of vertigo, low-pitched tinnitus, and hearing loss."
Speaking to the channel, on This Morning, Adams also discusses his latest, eponymous LP, his humble beginnings ("first it was poetry and Reader's Digest....") and his creative process. Explaining his prolificacy, Adams tells of waves of creativity:
"There’ll be a year or two now and again where it’s pretty peaceful, and there’s... there's songs, but they’re just... they wash up on shore and you pull them in and you clean them off... but then sometimes it’s like thunderstorming on the sea, and they’re everywhere, and that’s like how it is now. It’s cool. It feels like my soul is full and it’s overflowing and I’m taking just dictation from what I can get from it."
In other news, Adams has been nominated for a brace of awards at the upcoming 2015 GRAMMYs.
