If you want to catch Radiohead‘s performance of the entirety of their recent The King of Limbs – plus excellent new tracks ‘The Daily Mail’ and ‘Staircase’ – live from producer Nigel Godrich’s From The Basement series, you’ll have to move quickly, as the band have promisedthat the recording will be available on YouTube “for a limited time only”. Like the band’s recent “secret” appearance at this year’s Glastonbury festival, the set features the multi-instrumentalist and former Portishead collaborator Clive Deamer, who, along with the host of session musicians involved, helps to bring a more organic feeling to the slightly staid sample-laden original recordings.
The release of the video comes on the back of drummer Phil Selway’s recent admission to BBC 6 Music that the band are “absolutely… talking about” taking The King of Limbs on tour, and the video certainly demonstrates the band’s ability to do the album justice in a live environment. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for an announcement…
