War Child's Passport Back To The Bars gig lottery now open
Elbow, You Me At Six and The Vaccines have today been added to the lineup for Passport Back To The Bars, a series of intimate gigs in aid of War Child.
It's confirmed that they will join Duran Duran, Elbow, Bastille, The Vaccines, You Me At Six and Ride (Mark Gardener and Andy Bell acoustic show) in performing at 100-300 capacity venues across the UK in order to raise money and awareness for War Child, a charity that needs extra support after "an unprecedented year of violence for children in war zones." This is the tenth anniversary of the Passport Back To The Bars shows, with the first held to raise fund for children affected by the Iraq war.
The series is produced by War Child, O2, the Music Managers Forum and forms part of BRITs Week 2015.
Tickets to all shows are available by lottery, and are not on sale in the traditional sense. To enter into the draw, head here, or text the bands' keyword to 88450 (find more information at the bottom of the page). Each entry is also a donation, which costs £4.50 and will put you in the running to win a pair of tickets. All profits go to help the child victims of war.
A limited number of tickets to all shows will be available exclusively to O2 customers via Priority app from 9am, 26 January. One entrant will be chosen at random to win a 'golden passport', which includes tickets to all the shows, accomodation and transport. O2 are paying a donation to War Child for each ticket allocated.
All the money raised will support War Child’s vital work saving children from the brutal effects of war including Syria, Iraq and Gaza.
Elbow’s Guy Garvey has spoken about the shows and what they mean to the band:
“Elbow are proud to have been associated with War Child for over a decade. The work that War Child continues to do throughout the world is truly humbling. We were part of the original Passport shows, and to be able to participate again on its 10th anniversary is amazing. To return to The Roadhouse, our spiritual home in Manchester, just makes it even better.”
The Vaccines’ Justin Young also added:
“We're really honoured and excited to be involved with War Child again. Whilst we scramble for gig tickets, countless children across the world continue to have their lives affected by war. It’s important never to forget that”
