Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren's son burning punk collection in protest

24 November 2016, 16:00 | Written by Laurence Day

Joe Corré, the son of punk luminary Malcolm McLaren and fashion legend Vivienne Westwood, is burning his collection of punk rarities.

Among the items going up in flames is a "one-of-a-kind" acetate copy of Sex Pistols' "Anarchy In The UK" - watch it being destroyed above.

The memorabilia collection has been valued at £5 million. Corré, the founder of Agent Provacateur lingerie, vowed to burn it all earlier this year as a protest against punk's adoption by the mainstream.

In a statement, Corré explained: "The Queen giving 2016, the year of punk, her official blessing is the most frightening thing I’ve ever heard. Talk about alternative and punk culture being appropriated by the mainstream. Rather than a movement for change, punk has become like a fucking museum piece or a tribute act."

The full inferno is set to take place on November 26, the 40th anniversary of "Anarchy In The UK". It will be livestreamed on Burn Punk London's site.

Watch a whole playlist of stuff being burned on YouTube, if that's what you're into.
