Vinyl sales have increased by a third in mid-year sales figures, contributing to global vinyl sales reaching their highest peak in 15 years.
According to figures from Nielsen SoundScan, stats show that 2.9 million LPs have been bought over the last 6 months, marking a 33.5% rise over the first half of 2013.
This has been partly deemed down to Record Store Day 2013, with this year’s outing even more successful than previous years.
Even with this huge increase, vinyl sales still only make up 2% of the overall market, while CD sales continue to drop – falling another 14.2% in 2013 Q1&2.
