VH1 to begin work on TLC biopic next month
U.S. music channel, VH1 are set to begin production on a biopic of 90s R&B group TLC next month.
The full-length film, going by the title Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story, will be shot in the trio’s hometown of Atlanta during March.
It’ll be directed by Charles Stone III and stars Lil Mama as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Drew Sidora as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and KeKe Palmer in the role of Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas.
The band’s surviving members (Lopes passed away in 2002) will be given executive producer credits on the project based on a Kate Lanier script.
T-Boz said in a press release:
“There is so much to our story that hasn’t been told until this movie. Fans will be able to really understand the dynamic of the group and why that formula has not been able to be duplicated.”
The film is expected to air late-2013/early-2014.
