Vampire Weekend present MTV VMA award to One Direction, Taylor Swift tells them to “shut the f**k up”
One of the most bizarre moments of the MTV Video Music Awards last night was not Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus performing together with both 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar, but what happened when One Direction were handed the award for ‘Best Song of the Summer’.
Vampire Weekend were the bizarre choice of guests to announce the award, mingling with the boy group like Topman’s dream collaboration. But it’s what happened during the British group’s acceptance speech that’s become the meme du jour.
Clearly adamant that Daft Punk had the best summer hit of all time, the camera panned to Taylor Swift just in time to read her lips saying something suspiciously like “Shut the f**k up” in the direction of the pop singers.
