Unreleased Tom Petty track "Leave Virginia Alone" made available for first time
Tom Petty's unreleased "Leave Virginia Alone" track has been made available for the first time today (1 October) ahead of his Wildflowers album being reissued this month.
Last month, reissue box set details for Tom Petty's 1994 album Wildflowers was announced.
So far two previously unreleased tracks have been released - "There Goes Angela (Dream Away)" and "Confusion Wheel" - as well as demo versions of "You don’t Know How It Feels" and "Wildflowers".
Today, a third unreleased track has been made available for the first time. The track is called "Leave Virginia Alone", and Petty actually gave the song to Rod Stewart after cutting it from his album. Stewart released the song in 1995.
Wildflowers & All the Rest is produced by Petty's longtime engineer and co-producer Ryan Ulyate, and was put together by Tom's daughters Adria and Annakim Petty, his wife Dana Petty and his Heartbreakers bandmates Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench.
The reissue box set will feature Wildflowers original tracks, along with a bunch of unreleased songs, demos, home recordings, live performances and alternate versions.
Petty's comprehensive box set will also be released in multiple formats. The largest being the Super Deluxe Edition, which includes five CDs, nine LPs, and an introduction written by legendary producer Rick Rubin.
