Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Silicon, Princess Chelsea, and more up for New Zealand's Taite Prize
New Zealand's Taite Prize has announced its 2016 (long) shortlist, featuring Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Silicon, Princess Chelsea, and more.
Gin Wigmore and Fat Freddy's Drop are also in the running for the prize, which is given in Auckland on 20 April.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra scooped the prize in 2012 for their self-titled debut, and Lorde walked home with the gon in 2014 for Pure Heroine. Last year's prize was won by Jakob for Sines.
The Taite Prize is awarded every year in honour of Dylan Taite, a New Zealand music journalist who passed away in 2003. It's given each year to the "most creative NZ album released annually".
