Universal Music are set to re-issue classic rap albums on cassette for prison inmates.
Hip-Hop DX report that the rather strange venture is part of the Send A Package scheme, a shop set up to send “care packages to family and friends located in the New York State prison system”.
They have teamed up with the major label, who yesterday sold offshoot Parlophone to Warner for £500 million, to re-release the likes of Notorious B.I.G, 2Pac, Nas, Jay-Z and more.
It’s not yet known whether or not these re-issues will be made available to the wider public.
