UK counterculture musician and journalist Mick Farren dies at 69
British musician, author and journalist, Mick Farren has passed away after collapsing on stage in London over the weekend.
As NME note, Farren had been performing with his band The Deviants at London’s Borderline on Saturday night (July 27) when he was taken ill.
News of the incident was broke on Farren’s Facebook page, with a loved one writing:
“Hate to break the news but Mick collapsed on stage mid gig and the rest of the festival has been cancelled. I don’t know how the old boy is but he was unconscious on stage when the venue was cleared” before adding 15 hours later: “Today was indeed the day. RIP.”
Farren will be remembered for his journalism, notably for the NME, music career and anti-racism activism. He was 69 years old at the time of his death.
