Two Door Cinema Club cancel Latitude headline slot, replaced by Lily Allen
Two Door Cinema Club have been forced to cancel their Latitude headline slot this weekend due to the ill-health of frontman Alex Trimble.
The Northern Irish band were scheduled to close Friday night’s proceedings at the Suffolk festival but have now pulled out due to the hospitalisation of Trimble of a “chronic stomach complaint”.
A statement from the band reads:
It is with a heavy heart that we are going to need to cancel our upcoming shows at Latitude and Bournemouth Academy. Alex collapsed at Seattle airport on the way to London and has been hospitalised with a chronic stomach complaint. We are devastated to have to cancel shows that we were so looking forward to. We can only apologise and hope for your understanding at this time. Love TDCC x “
Ahead of the festival, the band’s bassist Kevin Baird heaped praise on Latitude, saying they’re “geared towards the real music lovers. That’s where bands like us are gonna start earning our stripes, in a couple of albums’ time, to push through to headline your Glastonburys and your Reading & Leeds. It’s great bands like us get given the chance to do that.
Meanwhile, Latitude organisers have announced that Lily Allen will fill in for the band as a replacement headliner. The festival runs from 17-20 July.
