Twitter have launched their previously-rumoured new music app, succinctly named ‘Twitter #Music’.
The social-networking giants recently acquired audio discovery platform We Are Hunted and have been looking to integrate it with their brand. Now we finally see the new app go live.
The application will recommend music to users based on what Soundcloud, iTunes, Spotify or Rdio are being shared. By default, you will hear previews from iTunes when exploring music in the app. Sub tracks are currently being shared, which accounts they follow and their friends tastes.
The official Twitter blog summarises the app as below:
“Today, we’re releasing Twitter #music, a new service that will change the way people find music, based on Twitter. It uses Twitter activity, including Tweets and engagement, to detect and surface the most popular tracks and emerging artists. It also brings artists’ music-related Twitter activity front and center: go to their profiles to see which music artists they follow and listen to songs by those artists. And, of course, you can tweet songs right from the app.”
It follows Twitter’s recently-launched video app Vine. You can visit the web homepage here, and download the app via iTunes.
