Twitter has had an-oeuf, launches crackdown on egg avatars
Twitter is now allowing users to mass-block users who only use the infamous default 'Egg' avatar in a bid to crackdown on abuse.
The social media platform has given users the ability to stop any 'Eggs' (and/or those without verified email address and phone numbers) from contacting them - although 'Eggs' aren't inherently bad, they are often used as anonymising masks by abusive trolls and, especially recently, white nationalists and nazis. As well as this new feature, Twitter is allowing users to mute targeted usernames and keywords.
These latest functions, and other related measures, are available now.
Twitter has recently been on a drive to eliminate (or at least minimise) the amount of abuse that has driven regular and high profile users away.
