Trudy and the Romance announce debut album with lead single "The Original Doo-Wop Spacemen"
Liverpool's Trudy and the Romance deliver romantic rock on fresh single "The Original Doo-Wop Spacemen", lifted from their newly-announced debut album Sandman.
"The Original Doo-Wop Spacemen" is Trudy and the Romance's first release since their 2017 Junkyard Jazz EP.
Expanding on the new single, frontman Oliver Taylor explains, "We directed this like a blockbuster, with characters and a story. We worked with a pianist, 1940s Disney choir, county pedal steel guitar player, film score violinist and harpist. It’s heart-warming and gently creeps up on you. It’s not tugging but just kind of there; Alligator Rock’n’roll!"
The new single is the first to be shared from Trudy and the Romance's debut album Sandman, which shares the same name as their 2016 single.
Sandman saw the band work with producer David Pye (Wild Beasts). Taylor explains, "It’s a coming of age tale about asking for your innocence back. It’s a breakup album and loosely based on the hero’s journey."
