Travis Scott discusses themes on upcoming Utopia album
Travis Scott has discussed some of the themes that will run through his forthcoming album Utopia.
In a new interview for CR Men, Scott spoke to artist Tom Sachs about his thoughts on what contributes to a "utopian state", and tied it in with some information about his upcoming album Utopia. Scott said, "Medicine, nursing, being a better person, talking, language, communication - you know, a utopian state. That’s what my album is about."
He continued, "You think utopia is a society where everything is good: health, buildings, architecture - nah. It’s just about proper lines of communication. Because that’s the dystopian shit we’re in right now. It’s all hate, hate, hate, and all of that is drawn from what? Miscommunication, non-communication, non-understandable communication, ignorance to communication. “I don’t like this person.” Why? Because somebody told me something to not like this person? Because in history I read to not like this person? Why?"
Back in February Scott spoke about Utopia - which will follow 2018's Astroworld - saying, "I’m evolving, collaborating with new people, delivering a whole new sound, a whole new range."
Last month his Cactus Jack Films signed a production deal with A24, and announced the deal with an image of a first draft script for Utopia. Insiders reportedly said the first project between Cactus Jack Films and A24 will "align with Scott’s upcoming album".
In July Scott performed a new song titled "Escape Plan" at Rolling Loud Miami. Although he hasn't released "Escape Plan" yet, he did collaborate with Baby Keem on "durag activity" back in April, and featured on Kanye West's Donda album with Baby Keem again last month.
