Torres shares new track "Cowboy Guilt"
Torres, AKA Mackenzie Scott, has unveiled "Cowboy Guilt", her latest preview of the follow up to 2013's self-titled debut.
We've already had teasers of Sprinter in the form of the title track, "New Skin" and "Strange Hellos", but this new taster offers a jerkier, quirkier side to Scott's repertoire. Slow-plod beats clip underneath a weird-pop scale while Scott's punchy phrasing hovers above: "You had us in stitches, with your George Dubya impressions/ou sang of reparations with the Native Americans...".
The album's shaping up to be a critical exploration of religion and her Deep South roots, but "Cowboy Guilts" might be the most overtly sardonic take so far.
Torres' sophomore LP Sprinter is available 18 May on Partisan Records.
